Officials with the Georgia Department of Transportation said the activation date for the new traffic light on State Route 20 at the access road would be delayed until the afternoon of Jan. 12. .
In a press release, DOT officials said beginning with the afternoon school release on Jan. 12, the signal will operate weekdays during peak school hours from 6:30 a.m. – 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. The signal will start to flash on Jan. 9. Officials caution, however, that these dates still are contingent upon GDOT’s road construction schedule moving ahead as planned.
GDOT is widening to a four-lane divided highway from Cooper/Ozora Roads to Brand Road, which includes access to Grayson High School where the new traffic signal will be placed. Officials said the delay is due to changes in GDOT’s road construction schedule.
