
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 233, Loganville, held its annual Teachers of the Year Award Luncheon on March 24. Sandy Wittenmyer, president, welcomed everyone, and asked Joy Smith, our Chaplain, if she would give a prayer before eating.
Members of the Unit who were present who were present were welcomed by Wittenmyer. These were Evelyn Boss, Post Commander’s wife, Violet Colgan, Education Chairman, Bea Carmona, Secretary, Jean Kelly, Regis Stamey, Lillian Macharoni, and Kathy Brown
Wittenmyer introduced each teacher present and gave them a gift from the Auxiliary.

The teachers honored were:
Amy Harlan, Walnut Grove Elementary School, 1st Grade Teacher

Wendy Little, Youth Elementary School, 5th Grade Math & Science Teacher
Ms. Little is also Walton County Teacher of the Year.
Brandon Quinn, Loganville High School, Social Studies, US History Teacher
Rheba Cown, Bay Creek Elementary School, Special Education and 5th Grade Teacher
Karen Hamby, Atha Elementary School, 2nd Grade Teacher. She was accompanied by her husband, Randy.
Barbara Lewis, Monroe Elementary School, Special Education Teacher
Ms. Lewis told the story of the child from Vietnam who came to the US. The child was not allowed to go to school in Vietnam because of his disabilities. He was deaf. He is being educated in the U.S. because of the Special Education program. He has won an art contest in which the prize is a trip to the White House in Washington D.C.
The chaplain closed the honor luncheon with a short pray.
