Loganville Fire Department's Capt. Richard Morris Retires

Chief Danny Roberts and the Loganville Fire Department would like to take a moment and congratulate Captain Richard Morris on his retirement.

Captain Morris started his firefighter career with the City of Loganville in 1985 as a volunteer. Captain Morris served the citizens of Loganville as a volunteer for 13 years.  On January 1, 1998, Captain Morris was hired by the City of Loganville as a career firefighter.

While at Loganville Fire Department, Captain Morris has held the title of Firefighter, Driver Engineer, Lieutenant, and Captain. Captain Morris supervised a shift for many years before moving into the Fire Marshal’s Office. While in the Fire Marshal’s Office Captain Morris was responsible for inspecting local businesses to make sure they met all the State and City’s life safety codes. Among being an inspector, Captain Morris was also one of the Fire Investigators for the City.

Captain Morris helped so many people in the community and also members of the Loganville Fire Department through the years. “He is the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and help anyone with anything” said Fire Marshal Kent Durden. Captain Morris has always been a huge asset to the City and will be very hard to replace. Thank You, Captain Morris for giving Loganville Fire Department 27 years of dedicated service. 

We wish Captain Morris great success in his future endeavors.
