Rain Further Delays SR 20 Roadwork in Grayson

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that a project milestone on the widening of State Route 20 will not happened as planned Dec. 28 because of the recent rains.

“A new date for splitting traffic and activating signals has not been scheduled yet. As the weather clears and work proceeds, we will share the new schedule with you. We are anxious to get all four lanes of Grayson Highway widened and open for you to use,” Johnny Emmett, district construction engineer for GDOT, said in a press release.

The next phase of work will split traffic around the median utilizing one lane in each direction and three new traffic signals will be activated. These new signals are at State Route 20 as it intersects with Oak Grove Road, with Hoke O’Kelly Mill Road and with Brand Road. The new signals will flash for about a week before they become permanently activated.
