ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Covington Career Center and the American Legion will co-sponsor a career expo for veterans and other job seekers Thursday, April 19. The expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the American Legion Post No. 77, located at 674 Legion Road., N.E., in Conyers.
“As more of our veterans end their terms of service, I want to ensure that we welcome them back home properly and that we acknowledge what they did for our country,” said State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. “Although we are seeing signs of growth in the economy, it will still be awhile before we recover completely. The Georgia Department of Labor will continue to work hard, matching the unemployed with companies in a position to hire. This effort includes career expos, such as this one, that introduce veterans and potential employers.”
The expo will feature a number of employers, educational institutions, and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers. Some employers will be hiring, while others will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers. Other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and to interview for available job openings, including part-time, full-time, entry-level, supervisory, and management positions.
Those expected to participate in the expo include: AFLAC, Alori Cares, Apollo Staffing, Delta Airlines, DeVry University, Excel Logistics, Georgia Army National Guard, Lowe’s, Manpower, Nisshinbo Automotive, Partnership for Community, RMDS/GPC Company, and Simos Insourcing Solutions.
