Walton County Deputy Chief Appraiser Derry Boyd Announces Campaign for Tax Commissioner.

Derry Boyd, Walton County Deputy Chief Appraiser, has announced his campaign for Walton County Tax Commissioner. Boyd will run as a Republican. Current Tax Commissioner, Patricia Malcom, has announced her plans to retire this year.

Boyd will host a BBQ pork plate fundraiser in Loganville at the American Legion on Saturday, May 19th from 10am-2pm.


“First, I want to thank Patricia Malcom for her service. I am excited to announce my campaign for Tax Commissioner, and I look forward to earning the trust and support of the people of Walton County," Boyd said in a press release. "I am running for Tax Commissioner because I feel my extensive, 21 years of experience in serving Walton County taxpayers will allow for a smooth transition.

“I feel the Tax Commissioner’s office has been well run in the past, and I want to use my experience to continue the effective management of the office. I will always be accessible to the taxpayers who need to voice their concerns, and I will never forget I am accountable to them. In addition, I will promote creativity within the office to improve services while further improving customer service. I give my word that I will protect taxpayers by operating the office efficiently and manage tax dollars wisely.”


Boyd has 21 years of experience in proudly serving the taxpayers of Walton County. He has been the county’s Deputy Chief Appraiser for 14 years. He also spent four years with the State of Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts. In his 21 years of service, Boyd has extensive experience supervising and directing employees.
He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 26 years. They are the proud parents of Nicole, 21, currently attending Nursing School at Georgia College and State University and Andrew, 17, a senior at Monroe Area High School and Cadet at Walton Co. Fire Rescue.
