Baptism Pool Cause Of Blaze In Sanctuary At Grayson Tabernacle

Fire investigators believe a fire at the Grayson Tabnacle church Sunday started in the church's baptism pool.

GRAYSON, GA – While responding to a residential fire in Lawrenceville Sunday morning, firefighters rolled up on a church fire directly across the street from their fire station at the 2200 block of Loganville Highway, SE in Grayson. No injuries were reported.

At approximately 8:17 a.m., heavy smoke was found on the backside of the Tabernacle. Upon entry, heavy flames and smoke were found where the sanctuary is located. The structure was unoccupied and locked upon arrival with crews having to force entry. Multiple lines were deployed to make a stop on the fire’s advancement. There is heavy and extensive damage in the sanctuary. Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the investigator said the point of origin appears to be by the baptism pool in the sanctuary.

Representatives of the church starting arriving after firefighters had the fire under control.
