Bridge at I-85 and Pleasant Hill Road Reopens Sunday at Noon

The Diverging Diamond Interchange has been designed to improve traffic flow on the bridge.

The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation reopened the new Diverging Diamond Interchange at the Pleasant Hill Road bridge over I-85 in the Duluth area Sunday (June 9). This is ahead of the previously announced scheduled opening of 5 a.m. Monday.

The bridge began opening up to traffic at 11 a.m. and was expected to be fully open by noon with the DDI configuration.

Motorists will no longer have to detour around the bridge, which was closed Friday at 9 p.m.

The DDI design allows traffic to shift to the opposite side of the bridge, which will make left turns onto the interstate easier and improve the flow of traffic across the bridge.
