Car-Theft Suspect Caught After Chase, Shots Fired: Police

Father Devine Allah of Snellville led Loganville police on a lengthy foot chase before he was caught and arrested, according to authorities.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A lengthy foot chase and shots fired in the air Saturday led Loganville Police to a suspect in a Walton County vehicle theft.

Father Devine Allah, 51, of Snellville was arrested by Loganville Police Saturday, according to City of Loganville spokesperson Robbie Schwartz. Allah was charged with theft by receiving a motor vehicle, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and several other offenses.

At about 10:36 a.m., Loganville police responded to a report of someone entering an auto at the Marathon Station at 4800 Atlanta Highway. When police arrived, witnesses pointed to a suspect with a handgun fleeing the scene, according to Schwartz.

Officers gave chase. During a lengthy foot pursuit, the suspect fired several rounds into the air while running. He was finally captured at the intersection of Highway 78 and 81 Spur. Police later discovered that the suspect was involved in a motor-vehicle theft in Walton County earlier on Saturday.

No-one was hurt, and Loganville officers did not fire a shot, Schwartz said.

Additional charges are expected to be filed by Walton County.
