Care-Givers of Disabled WWII Vet Face Felony Charges
Gwinnett Police said the two women - from Loganville and Lawrenceville - are accused of stealing thousands in jewelry.
Two area woman are facing felony charges after investigators say they stole thousands of dollars in jewelry from the Gwinnett County home where they cared for a disabled World War II veteran.
Gwinnett Police said Sharron Kimball, 47, of Lawrenceville, and Terri McGill, 54, of Loganville, were charged following an investigation of an Oct. 16 report into the theft of around $6,000 in jewelry from a Lawrenceville-area home.

Mary Liggio, 74, told police she lived in the home with her disabled husband and contracted with Comfort Keepers out of Loganville help take care of her husband.
Detectives determined Kimball and McGill were the care-takers at the home when the jewelry was stolen. They also found that additional jewelry had been stolen.

“Detectives learned that Kimball had a recent pawn transaction for a gold chain, catholic cross and diamond earrings,” Gwinnett Police Public Information Officer Cpl. Deon Washington said in a Friday news release. “McGill had a pawn history consisting of a ruby ring that dated back to the spring of this year. McGill had been caring for the victim’s husband for almost two years.”
Also linked to the thefts was Kimball’s daughter, Darrion Poyntz, 22, who had pawned rings and a gold chain in two transactions last month. Poyntz told police her mother gave her the rings to sell.
Kimball was arrested on Oct. 20, McGill on Oct. 27.
“With the exception of one bracelet, detectives have accounted for and returned all of the stolen and pawned jewelry back to the victims,” Washington said.
Kimball was charged with felony theft by taking, felony exploitation of a disabled adult, misdemeanor theft by deception (two counts) and misdemeanor theft by taking.
McGill was charged with felony exploitation of a disabled adult, misdemeanor theft by deception and misdemeanor theft by taking.
