
Gas has dropped below the $3 mark in Loganville with Falling gas prices are expected to bring out more road travelers for the upcoming Indepedence Day holiday period, according to AAA. Grayson, however, is still above the $3 mark with the lowest gas prices still at $3.15. However, that is still quite a bit lower than it was just a couple of months ago.
Thanks to cheaper gas in recent weeks, and a mid-week day for July 4 (Wednesday), the auto club projects that travel will tie 2007 as the highest volume in the past decade.
The official holiday period is defined as Tuesday, July 3, through Sunday, July 8. Because the holiday falls on a Wednesday, the travel period is extended one extra day, according to AAA.

Georgia is expected to have 1.1 million travelers, including auto, air and other. That's a 4.8 percent increase, with auto travelers spurring the biggest impact. Gas prices of 30 cents less per gallon this year than last are making car travel more affordable, according to AAA.
All total, an estimated 42.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday weekend. This represents a 4.9 percent increase from the 40.3 million people who traveled last year.

It is also nearly a 42 percent jump from 2009, which had the least amount of travelers in the past decade.
