Snow To Hit GA As Temps Plunge To Teens: See When And Where
Forecasters told Patch light snow could coat one Georgia region, while another area could freeze amid rainfall as temperatures drop.
Snow showers are expected to blanket the North Georgia mountains, while light rain showers could drizzle into metro Atlanta this week, forecasters told Patch on Tuesday.
This will all take place on Wednesday, said Ryan Willis with the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office. However, he warned Thursday will usher in colder air, with Friday anticipated to feel the chilliest.
Snow accumulations may reach just under an inch, possibly higher in elevations that are above 2,000 or 2,500 feet and near the Georgia-Tennessee line. This includes Blue Ridge, Blairsville and McCaysville.

South of the mountains, in metro Atlanta, light rain could drop in on Wednesday afternoon into the evening. By Wednesday night, temperatures are expected to be below freezing.
The rain will be "primarily enough to wet the ground" and will not be severe, Willis said.

Though it will clear out by Thursday morning, drivers commuting or students waiting at bus stops may want to "bundle up" as Thursday will make way for a chilling Friday — the coldest day of the week, Willis said.
He added temperatures will sit in the mid-20s on Thursday morning, remain cool throughout the day with highs in the mid- to upper-30s and will dive into the upper teens to around 20 degrees by Friday morning.

Amid what has been a seesaw of temperatures, Willis said Georgia is experiencing more "winter-like" weather compared to the warm start to January. Temperatures will mostly be below normal starting Thursday and lasting through early next week, he said.
The predictions of AccuWeather forecasters on Tuesday were similar to that of the NWS.
“A strong cold front will sweep across the Southeast later this week, bringing frigid air to millions of people," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bill Deger said in a news release. "Temperatures could drop 25 degrees or more in some locations. Frost and freeze concerns will extend as far south as central Florida. Low temperatures could fall into the 20s in parts of northern Florida Thursday night."
For Georgia, this could mean "very cold" weekend air and "abnormal chill," AccuWeather reported.
