Updated: Skateboarding Boy Hit by Car in Loganville

Loganville police said the incident appears to be "a freak accident."

Update - 7:39 p.m.: The boy is 12. His condition is still unavailable, police Chief Mike McHugh said in an email. No charges have been filed against the driver, but police are still investigating.

Update - 12:40 p.m: From a text message from Police Lt. John Fain:

He was skate boarding with brother and friends he was laying on the board on his stomach and they were pushing him. the vehicle was passing them and somehow he was run over. The case is still pending but all indications are it was a freak accident. The driver had no intent but still under investigation.

Loganville Police officials confirmed Tuesday that a child has been struck by a car,  but they are not releasing further information.

Witnesses told Patch the incident occurred near Loganville's Pebble Point subdivision on Monday night and that the child was Life Flighted from Bay Creek Elementary School.

Police officials said they believe the child survived the accident, but they did not have word on the child's condition. Patch will update when more information is released.
