County Adds $5M To State's $5M For Funding I-85 Corridor Study
Gwinnett committed to providing $5 million over the next four years for half the cost to study the Interstate 85 corridor.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. β The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners recently committed to providing $5 million over the next four years for half the cost to study the Interstate 85 corridor.
Based on a memorandum of understanding approved May 15, the Georgia Department of Transportation is to fund the other half of the study, which will extend from Interstate 285 to Interstate 985. Gwinnett Countyβs portion is funded by the 2017 SPLOST.
District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard said the project was identified in the Countyβs Comprehensive Transportation Plan.

The study will address congestion, improving traffic flow and safety. The Georgia DOT will manage the project, with a total cost not to exceed $10 million.
