This Mexican Restaurant Failed Inspection In Gwinnett County
An employee did not clean the line cutting board between handling raw fish and lime, according to an inspection report.
GWINNETT COUNTY — Local restaurants and food chains in Gwinnett County were recently graded by the Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale Health Department and Georgia Department of Public Health. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70. Check out the latest scores in Gwinnett County.
Monterrey Mexican Restaurant, 1000 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Suwanee, received an “unsatisfactory” score, 25, in its most recent food inspection report.
According to the report, an employee was seen placing a ready-to-eat lime on the cutting board immediately after using it for raw fish. The board was never cleaned and sanitized between uses. An employee did not clean the line cutting board between handling raw fish and lime; he then wiped it with a dry towel. Another employee was seen cutting lemons for drinks with no gloves on. There was mold on the soda nozzles at the service station and at the bar.

The restaurant’s permit has been suspended and a follow-up inspection will take place 10 days from the Oct. 5 inspection.
