Ex-Gwinnett Coach Charged With Sexual Assault: GBI

A former Gwinnett coach and teacher recently working in Crisp County was charged Thursday with sexual assault, according to authorities.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A former baseball coach with Central Gwinnett High School was charged Thursday with sexual assault in connection with an alleged incident reported to authorities in south Georgia, according to multiple news reports.

David Lamberth, 42, a one-time teacher and baseball coach at Crisp County High School in Cordele, was arrested Thursday morning by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and booked into the Dooly County Jail in Pinehurst. The GBI said that more charges are expected.

Crisp County deputies said they learned of one assault, alleged to be by Lamberth, that occurred with a Dooly County student.

On Oct. 28, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI for help investigating the incident connected to Lamberth, according to WGXA-TV in Macon, Georgia. Lamberth resigned his position as teacher and coach with Crisp County two days later for what district records show as “personal reasons."
