FBI Most Wanted: Murder Suspect Has Georgia Ties

MILWAUKEE — The FBI is investigating a suspect's connections to Georgia after she was added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List this week.

Shanika Minor, 23, of Wisconsin, is accused of killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child in March. A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for information leading to her capture.

Just five days from her due date, Tamecca Perry, 23, was Minor's Milwaukee neighbor and former classmate.

“Apparently Minor believed that the victim had somehow disrespected her or her mother,” said Special Agent Chad Piontek. “It is a fairly violent neighborhood. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a street mentality about solving problems.”

Witnesses told investigators that Minor confronted the victim near the door of her home. Minor's mother tried to get in between the two, but Minor allegedly reached over her mother's shoulder and shot the pregnant woman in the chest.

Perry made it back into her home before she collapsed and died in front of her two children, according to the FBI. The victim's unborn child, due within a week, also died before emergency crews arrived.

Minor fled and the FBI says she may have had contact with people in Georgia.

“I don’t think she has a lot of resources on her own. Clearly, people have assisted her,” Piontek said. “Our hope is that whoever is assisting her will find the potential reward more attractive than protecting a person wanted for first-degree murder.”

The FBI is also following leads in Missouri, Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee and Ohio.

If convicted of the charges against her, Minor faces up to life in prison.
