Fire in Walnut Grove Sunday Night Partially Destroys Home

According to Craig League, Battalion Chief - Walton County Fire and Rescue, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 2070 Habersham Circle in the City of Walnut Grove at about 11:24 pm. on Sunday, May 19, 2013.

"Upon arrival of the first fire engine, there was heavy fire from the upstairs bonus room over a home garage," League said, adding that all of the occupants made it out safely, including the family pets. "There were no injuries reported, as well as no firefighter injuries. The fire department was on scene for nearly three hours."

League said he believes that the home is salvageable although there was extensive damage to the garage and upstairs room above the garage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
