Former GSP Trooper To Serve Two Years In Prison for Accident that Killed a Loganville Woman

Doanld Crozier, 43, a former Georgia State Trooper, was sentenced to serve two years in prison Tuesday after he entered guilty pleas in connection with a 2011 , according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Porter was the wife of Jeff Porter, the Atlanta Braves' head trainer. The AJC reports that Crozier also was sentenced to eight years on probabation after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide, reckless driving and violating his oath of office.

Crozier, a 10-year veteran of the GSP, was fired following the accident. His vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Jeff Porter, sending the trooper, Porter, his then 19-old-old son and another passenger to the hospital and killing Porter’s wife. Crozier was rushing to join in a motorcycle chase at the time of the wreck. The Porter family was on the way to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

Earlier reports were that the trooper entered the intersection against a red light but that his siren and lights were activated at the time. Following a more than year-long investigation, Crozier was indicted in February of this year.
