Four More Gwinnett Grads Recognized As National Merit Scholars
Four more high-school graduates from Gwinnett County received National Merit Scholarships sponsored by the schools they will attend.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Twenty high-school graduates in Georgia — including four in Gwinnett County — are among the more than 1,000 additional winners of school-sponsored National Merit Scholarships announced Monday.
These scholarship winners join more than 3,100 recipients announced in June, bringing the total number of 2021 National Merit Scholars to more than 7,500.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their winners from among finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and 2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
More than 4,100 National Merit Scholarships were awarded by 160 (85 private, 75 private) college universities across the country. The scholarship recipients will receive a total of nearly $30 million. In addition to the scholarships awarded by the schools, 2,500 National Merit Scholarships worth $2,500 apiece were awarded, along with 1,000 corporate-sponsored awards handed out for finalists who met specific criteria.
