Events will be hosted locally for Diabetes Alert Day in Norcross and Snellville.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA -- Nearly 1 in 4 adults living with diabetes, or 7.2 million Americans, are unaware that they have the disease, which is why Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale County Health Departments is partnering with Diabetes “You Can Win” Foundation to participate in American Diabetes Association Alert Day.

On March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., events will be hosted locally for Diabetes Alert Day at Norcross Health & Human Services building located at 5030 Georgia Belle Court in Norcross and Centerville Community Center at 3025 Bethany Rd in Snellville. Walk-in appointments are available for individuals to take a risk test and an A1C blood test to find out if they are at risk.

Those that don't have time to go to Norcross or Snellville can take a quick (and anonymous) one-minute Type 2 diabetes risk test online: www.diabetes.org/RiskTest

An estimated 84 million American adults have prediabetes, which means they have blood glucose (sugar) that’s higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes is reversible, and knowing your risk is the first step.

American Diabetes Association Alert Day is on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. A1C and other lab tests are available at all Health Department locations Monday through Friday. Visit www.gnrhealth.com to find the location nearest you.
