Freeze Warning In Effect For Parts Of North, Central GA

GEORGIA — Much of north and central Georgia will be under the season’s first freeze warning starting at midnight Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The warning will be generally north and west of a line from LaGrange to Forsyth to Jefferson, according to the National Weather Service.

Georgia counties covered by the warning include Fulton, Barrow, DeKalb, Fayette and Gwinnett, along with the cities of Gainesville, Atlanta, Lawrenceville, East Point, Decatur, Conyers, Covington, Newnan, Peachtree City, and Griffin.

A hazardous weather outlook for frost includes Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth,
Gwinnett, Oconee, and Paulding counties, among others.

In addition to protecting plants and pets, the weather service advises wrapping outdoor water pipes, draining them, or allowing them to drip slowly so they don’t freeze.

Overnight temperatures are expected to just touch freezing. Thursday’s temperatures should rise into the high 50s.
