Gasoline Fire Severely Burns Toddler in Loganville

The Walton County Sheriff's Office believes the chemical was poured on a playground slide to make it slippery, and static electricity caused the fire.

A 2-year-old girl was severely burned Saturday morning (Nov. 9) from a gasoline fire in Loganville.

The toddler and her sister were playing on an outdoor slide when it caught on fire due to gas and static electricity, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. The older girl, 4, was not injured.

Deputies from the Walton County Sheriff's Office believe one of the girls had poured the chemical on the slide to make it slippery.

Walton firefighters told Patch that the girl was rushed first to Gwinnett County Fire Station 30 on Ozora Road, near the family's Hudson Road home. The toddler was then sent to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she was in a medically induced coma Monday (Nov. 11), the AJC reports.

Charges are not expected to come from this incident.
