GECC Donates to Shepherd's Staff in Loganville

As a way to give back to the community that has been so good to it, the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce is donating to chosen charities in the communities of Grayson, Loganville and Snellville.

At the April 2013 Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce meeting, Jamie Dempsy, president of the GECC, donated $500 to the Shepherd's Staff Ministries in Loganville.

"As an ongoing commitment to the communities that GECC serves, and having had a successful and growth year in 2012, the Board of Directors picked a cause to champion in each of the three cities we serve, and donated $500 to each," Dempsy said. "This month we celebrate Shepherd's Staff's service to those in need in Loganville, with a donation to help them in their efforts of feeding and providing for  our neighbors who are in need."

Shepherd Staff Ministries director, Megan Herdon, was on hand to receive the check. The Shepherd Staff has served the community of Loganville since 2000 when it began as an extension of the Community Chest. Local churches picked up the responsibility and created Shepherd’s Staff Ministries, Inc. Now, more than 10 years later, as an arm of the United Way of Walton County the organization continues to reach thousands of families in the Loganville community.

Information about the Shepherd Staff Ministries and its services can be found on the website. The organization accepts food donations Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m. Information about the best food to donate and other possible drop off sites can be found here.
