Gwinnett Deputy Honored For Coming To Aid Of Firefighters
A Gwinnett County deputy was quick to respond when a man pulled a gun on a firefighter during a medial call.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Gwinnett County Police Department deputy was recently honored for coming to the rescue of Gwinnett firefighters during an emergency situation.
Corporal Patrick Collins was conducting an eviction pre-check when he heard a radio call indicating that a nearby a fire crew was in danger. The crew was responding to a medical call when one of the occupants of the home became disruptive, grabbed a paramedic, then armed himself with a pistol. Collins knew that he was close to the location and responded immediately.
He was relieved to see that fire personnel made is safely out of the house. Collins remained with the crew until responding police units arrived and he entered the home with them to disarm the suspect, who was safely taken into custody.

Gwinnett County Fire Chief Russell Knick sent a letter to Sheriff Butch Conway honoring Collins for his professionalism and dedication and to thank him for protecting his crew.
