Life Sentence for 2013 Murder of Ray Murphy

A second man has been convicted for the 2013 murder of Ray Murphy, the Walton County District Attorney’s Office said.

Blake Ramone Harris was convicted this week of malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault in the Aug. 10, 2013 shooting death of Murphy, 35, who was shot twice outside a home on Reed Street in Monroe.

Harris’ co-defendant, Kevin Boyd, was convicted of the same offenses in February, the district attorney’s office said.

Harris was sentenced to life without parole in prison, plus five years confinement to be served consecutively.

This case was investigated by the Monroe Police Department and the G.B.I. and was prosecuted by Chief Deputy Assistant District Attorney Cliff Howard along with the assistance of Victim-Witness Director Kim Roberts and Investigator Artie Turner.
