Loganville Man Kidnapped Ex-Girlfriend: Police

Police say she was in the process of breaking up with him when he pushed into her home, then forced her outside and into his car.

GRAYSON, GA — A Loganville man is accused of kidnapping is girlfriend on Thursday, according to a release from the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The release said soon before 1 p.m., police responded to a house on Cooper Lakes Drive in Grayson to find a "frantic" woman saying her daughter, 23, had just been abducted by Tangelo Tafari Roberts, also 23, of Loganville.

According to the release, Roberts and the victim, whose name was not released, had been texting that afternoon. She was in the process of breaking up with him.

While she was in her bedroom, Roberts pushed in through the front door and went upstairs to the victim's room where they began to argue the release says. He's accused of then forcing the victim outside and into his car.

Authorities worked to locate Roberts and the victim by pinging their phones. The Gwinnett County Police Department used their helicopter to search for her.

Authorities found Roberts near Preserve Park Drive in Loganville and pulled him over. The victim was unharmed and returned to her family, police say.

"The safety and security of the victim was our number one priority in this case. The team of officers and civilians assigned to this investigation were relentless in acting swiftly in an effort to locate the young woman. We are thankful that the victim was relatively unharmed during this ordeal," the release says.

Roberts is being held on one count of kidnapping with no bond.
