Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The annual Kidsignments sale is back this week at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Among the offerings are clothing, toys, strollers, children’s furniture, and books of all kinds. Grayson's Jeri Lynn Cunningham, who’s run the sale for 26 years, said the coronavirus almost killed Kidsignments in 2020. The sale is open Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All items and booths will be sanitized nightly and guests are required to wear masks and sanitize their hands. 2. A new Housing and Community Development Division has been created in Gwinnett County within its Department of Planning and Development. Matt Elder, who has nearly a decade of experience in housing and community development, as well as serving four years as the director of HomeFirst Gwinnett, has been named as the division’s director. Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Henrickson said, “Matt played a pivotal role into the creation of the County’s first homeless shelter for women and children – the Resting Spot. His empathy and compassion to help those in need, coupled with his experience in community and housing development, is exactly why he is the perfect person to take the helm." (Gwinnett Citizen)
  3. Artworks Gwinnett is looking for input from people who live, work, and play in Gwinnett County. Create Gwinnett, an Arts and Economy Master Plan, focuses on how arts and culture help foster economic prosperity in the county. Jonathan Holmes, chair of Artworks Gwinnett, said, “Gwinnett is the most diverse county in the state, and we need to hear from all age groups to know where future funding should be concentrated.” Participation is welcomed and encouraged for all ages — Pre-K to community elders. (Metro Atlanta CEO)
  4. Calling all Loganville pet parents: Boss Brothers Country Store is now accepting reservations for 20-minute pet portrait sessions on Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27 to benefit Fido & Friends Pet Food Pantry. The festival will be held at Clarkston Community Center in Clarkston from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 20.
