Obituary: Brenda Brownlee Moody, 64, of Grayson

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Grayson.

 

Brenda Brownlee Moody, 64, of Grayson passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Funeral Services were held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Grayson. The Rev. J.B. Reese, Dr. Tim Brogan, and Rev. Harold Layne officiated. Internment was at the Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. 

Brenda lived in Grayson her entire life, where she attended Grayson Elementary School and later graduated from South Gwinnett High School in 1966. She then attended North Georgia College where she earned her B.S. Degree in Education. She later received her Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia. Following College, Brenda returned to Grayson Elementary where she taught various grades for 32 years, she retired in 2000. She loved all the children she taught and was well known as a firm but loving disciplinarian. She loved to share that in all her years teaching, she never had a parent miss a conference with her. She often said that of all the grades she taught, that first grade was her favorite. Brenda was a lifelong member of theFirst Baptist Church of Grayson and directed their children’s choir for many years. She also enthusiastically supported the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. She along with her parents spent many hours in prison ministry, especially the cake ministry on Father’s Day. Brenda served the City of Grayson for 25 years as a member & later the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board. During this time she never missed a meeting while serving her community.

Brenda is survived by her Husband: Dewey E. Moody of Grayson; Parents: M.D. (Buck) and Jean Brownlee of Grayson; Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Jimmy and Sandra Brownlee of Grayson, Buddy and Bonnie Brownlee of Grayson; Nieces and Nephews: Jim Brownlee, Hannah Gibbons, Susan Bowman, and Sara Maxwell; Great Nieces and Nephews: Austin Gibbons, Angel Gibbons, Blake Bowman, and Bonnie Maxwell; Mother-in-law: Jane Moody of Jesup; Sister-in-law: Robbie Moody of Vinings. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Brenda Moody to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, First Baptist Church of Grayson, P.O.
