Police: Man Winks at Officer, Rats out Wife for DUI, Drugs

Authorities received an anonymous tip that a woman was smoking illegal drugs out of an aluminum can at QuikTrip in Loganville.

A man allegedly ratted out of his wife to police when she was pulled over for a drug charge last week.

According to the Loganville Police report, authorities received an anonymous tip that a woman was smoking illegal drugs out of an aluminum can at QuikTrip.

Police spotted the 48-year-old Loganville woman driving a green Honda on Georgia 20 South. She drove consistently on the white fog line, the officer wrote in the report.

The cop made a traffic stop near Logan Drive. The woman gave her license to the officer and said she had not been smoking anything from a can when the officer asked her. The officer noticed she had constricted pupils and was very nervous.

Her husband, sitting in the passenger seat, looked at the officer and winked, though. He told the cop that she had been arrested the weekend before on charges of driving under the influence of drugs. She also had a crack cocaine addiction, he added.

After the driver gave consent to search her vehicle, the officer found an empty can with burnt residue on the driver's door, and Loratab and Xanax pills prescribed to her mother in her purse.

The woman was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane. She was admitted to the Walton County Jail.
