Are you a golf fan, or just a patriot? Either way, you're probably following Ryder Cup action this weekend as the United States battles Europe for supremacy at Medinah outside Chicago.

The U.S. heads into Saturday's rounds with a 5-3 lead after an impressive Friday afternoon, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Word Saturday morning was that Tiger Woods will be benched for the day's foursomes, after going 0-2 with partner Steve Stricker on Friday.

"We didn't want anybody to have to play five matches on this golf course," United States captain Davis Love III said on the BBC. "We just don't want guys to be worn out. We need Tiger and Steve in the afternoon, and on Sunday."
