Former Gwinnett County Student Sues School District After Reported Rape
The student who reported the rape was disciplined. She's now taking the Title IX lawsuit against GCPS to federal appeals court.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A former Gwinnett County Public Schools student is suing the district after she reported a rape that happened on school property, but was disciplined instead, reported the Gwinnett Daily Post.
The girl, who isn’t named in court documents obtained by the GDP, was a sophomore at Peachtree Ridge High School in February 2015. “Jane Doe,” sued the Gwinnett school district under Title IX in federal District Court, but a judge dismissed the case in September at the request of the district.
That appeal was filed Wednesday with the U.S. Court of Appeals.
