Viewfinder: Loganville's Patriotic Parade on Main Street

The weather may not have been perfect, and it may not have been July 4th, but the City of Loganville's patriotic parade on Main Street on Saturday still carried with it the Spirit of America.

Loganville residents didn't let a little mist and some heavy clouds dampen their spirits Saturday as the annual parade in honor of America's birthday went off without a hitch, albeit a couple of days late.

The parade had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather on July 4th, but all the events that went along with the parade were available on the rescheduled date of Saturday, July 6.

Members of the Loganville Fire Department raised the American Flag for the first time over the Ray Nunley Pavilion, which had been dedicated in the former mayor's honor on July 3. The parade then kicked off with participants celebrating America's birthday in the usual array of red, white and blue. Walton County Board of Education member Gwen Cantrell then sung the National Anthem to officially open the town green. Loganville firefighters cooked hot dogs and served them up to the attendees.

Loganville's new Town Green is now officially open and ready for the community's enjoyment.
