WCSO Issue Alert on Increased Vehicle Break Ins

An increase in the number of entering auto complaints prompted the Walton County Sheriff's Office to send out an alert, warning residents to be sure to lock cars and not to leave valuables inside.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office issued the following alert Friday after seeing an increase in vehicle break-ins recently.

There has been an increase in vehicles being entered around our communities and I want to share some precautionary tips with you.  If you are going to leave your vehicle outside of your garage at night, PLEASE take the necessary steps of taking out all valuable items and locking your vehicle doors. Most vehicles are being entered without force, which means doors are being left unlocked and unsecured. Please take these measures seriously. If you suspect any unusual behaviors or suspicious activity please call 9-1-1.

The following entering auto reports were investigated in Walton County between Oct. 10 -16. These were separate instances and most were reported in the Brookstone Estates subdivision in the Loganville area.
