Weekend Storms Cause Havoc In Gwinnett County
A house fire, wires down and alarms activated were just some of the havoc Gwinnett firefighters were dealing with over the weekend.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A house fire, wires down and alarms activated were just some of the havoc Gwinnett firefighters were dealing with over the weekend.
The following is a brief summary of the evening storm response activity for Saturday. It does not include all calls for the time period, according to the Gwinnett Fire Department.
REPORT OF TREE DOWN ON HOUSE:

- 5200 block of Suwanee Dam Road, NW in Suwanee. Dispatched at 9:19 p.m. Crews found a tree on the roof of the house. Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.

- Brinsworth Drive, NW in Suwanee
- Suwanee Dam Road and Tench Road in Suwanee
HOUSE FIRE:
- 4700 block of Scarborough Place, SW in Stone Mountain. Firefighters responded at 8:20 p.m., to a neighbor report of a house fire. Crews found a working fire in the attic and bonus room on arrival. No one home at the time and no injuries were reported. The homeowners are out of town and no one was at the house. The blaze caused extensive damage to part of the attic and roof. The fire was caused by a lightning strike during the storm. See previous News Release for additional information.
WIRES DOWN CALLS:
The following is a list of streets where the caller to 9-1-1 reported wires down. It is unknown as to whether all were actual live electrical wires or cable lines.
- 100 block of Rockbridge Road, SW in Lilburn. Caller reported a tree hanging on the power lines. Dispatched at 7:47 p.m.
- 90 block of Oxford Brook Way, SE in Lawrenceville. Caller advised low hanging wires. Dispatched at 8:08 p.m.
- 20 block of Level Creek Road, NW in Suwanee. Tree and wires down in roadway.
- Also reports of several trees and wires down on Suwanee Dam Road and Tench. Dispatched at 9:16 p.m.
- 5500 block of Rockbridge Circle, NW in Lilburn. Caller advised transformer blown. Dispatched at 8:29 p.m.
ALARMS ACTIVATED:
- Brentwood Downs Apartments, 500 Pleasant Hill Road, NW in Lilburn. No sign of smoke or fire on arrival. Dispatched at 7:00 p.m.
- Park at 980 Apartments, 980 Walther Boulevard, NW in Lawrenceville. No sign of smoke or fire on arrival. Dispatched at 8:07 p.m.
