Woman In Critical Condition After Near-Drowning At Lake Lanier
A man tried to save his friend, holding her head above water as deputies arrived, but she remains in critical condition Friday afternoon.

LAKE LANIER, GA — The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to a near-drowning at a local marina early Friday morning, Oct. 5. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was in critical condition at the hospital Friday afternoon.
Deputies received the initial call to Aqualand Marina on Lights Ferry Road at approximately 1:45 a.m. They found the victim, a 40-year-old Atlanta woman, in the water of Lake Lanier. Deputies pulled the victim from the lake and began CPR. Hall County Fire Services arrived, took over CPR efforts and then transported the woman to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim fell into the lake while the man she spent the evening with was talking to an Uber driver. The man, who rented a slip at the marina, discovered the victim in the lake and was holding her head above water when deputies arrived.

While the incident remains under investigation, detectives do not suspect foul play. Their initial investigation indicated alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the victim’s fall into the water.
