Woman Scams Bank Out Of $2,500 Using Fake ID: Police

Police are seeking the identity of a woman who fraudulently withdrew money from another woman's account, police say.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A detective assigned to the Criminal Investigations Sections General Unit needs the public’s help in identifying woman responsible for a recent fraud.

On Tuesday, July 17, a woman visited the Sun Trust bank at 3590 Club Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville. The woman claimed to be a customer and withdrew $2,500 cash from an account belonging to a different woman who lives in North Carolina, according to police. The victim noticed the unauthorized withdrawal on her account and called her bank to report the fraud.

The detective learned that the woman presented a fraudulent North Carolina driver’s license containing the victim’s information but with the photo of the suspect.

After obtaining funds from the bank on Club Drive, another attempt to withdraw funds was made at a branch on Five Forks Trickum Road. This transaction was not completed.
