Here are the top three stories in Macon today:
- On Apr. 3, the Macon Water Authority began its month-long construction project to close the sinkhole, caused by "extensive rainfall," and repair damages to the stormwater system in downtown Macon. Parts of Telfair Street will be closed to install a new bypass system that crosses Telfair Street. Drivers can take Hazel Street north and Ash Street to the South as a detour while Telfair Street is closed. (13WMAZ.com)
- On Apr. 4, Macon-Bibb commissioners voted to review the speed limits on Macon-Bibb roads due to the high number of pedestrians that have been hit. Commissioners also voted on a resolution in which the Pedestrian Safety Review Board (PSRB) and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will work together to promote safer conditions. Five major pedestrian accident hotspots have already been identified, including the intersection of Highway 41 and Elle Street, Forsyth Street, Holt Avenue, and Plum Street Lane. (wgxa.tv)
