Drug Deal Goes Bad in Early Morning Northside Drive Shootout

Police believe a drug deal went wrong before the shooting broke out at the Shell station located near Interstate 75.

Multiple gunshots were heard on Northside Drive near the Northside 75 office building around 1 a.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt in the shooting, though a bullet did shatter a window in the office building.

According to CBS Atlanta, officers responded after shots were fired at the 1701 Northside Dr. Shell station near Atlanta's westside. Officers on the scene believe suspects in three vehicles had been involved in a drug deal when the shots were fired.

Captain Tim Peek told the news outlet, "once the shots were fired, two occupants in a silver vehicle tried to flee. They rolled into the roadway and struck an innocent vehicle traveling up Northside Drive." The other two cars managed to leave the scene carrying the suspects.

Atlanta police arrested two individuals, including the driver of the vehicle that was struck by one of the fleeing cars. According to police, "it appears he very well may have been impaired by alcohol, so he was transported for testing."

Officers are continuing working to identity the occupants in the two fleeing cars, as well as identify the shooter.
