Morningside Elementary To Be Featured On Green Strides Tour Wednesday

Morningside Elementary will be featured Wednesday on the Green Strides Tour, which highlights sustainability.

ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta Public Schools' Morningside Elementary School will be a key stop on the 2017 Green Strides Tour on Wednesday, Sept. 20, which recognizes schools that have made strides to made environmental education, along with health and wellness, a priority.

The tour, officially called "Taking Learning Outside," began on Tuesday but will swing by Morningside beginning at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday and last one hour there. Officials from all three levels of government, along with community visitors and nonprofit representatives will learn how outdoor activities can expand traditional learning in the real world, APS said.

Morningside's green features will get special recognition, including its new $5 million HVAC unit, which simultaneously heats and cools the building to curb energy costs.
