Police Shooting Kills Suspected Armed Man At Midtown Hotel
Atlanta officers say they gave the man commands to drop his gun, but he refused, leading them to fatally shoot the man.
MIDTOWN, GA — Officers shot and killed a man suspected of being armed with a gun Wednesday at a 14th Street Northeast hotel in Midtown, Atlanta Police said.
APD responded around 12:45 a.m. to a person armed call in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel. Police said when officers arrived, they found the man in front of the hotel.
The man then walked around the hotel toward a parking garage, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Prenzinna Spann said at a news conference.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the man then turned around and began walking toward the officers. Refusing to follow commands, the man moved his hand toward the handgun on his side, the GBI said.
The officers then shot the man before rendering aid, Spann said.

A handgun was found on the scene near the man, the GBI said.
Grady Memorial emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, police said. He was not identified.
No officers were injured, and the GBI is overseeing the case.
