Nonprofit Group To Host 'Purple And Green Gala' In Atlanta
The nonprofit group Our Children's Story will host its inaugural "Purple And Green Gala" in Atlanta this fall.

ATLANTA, GA -- A local nonprofit that advocates for children and families caring for loved ones with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and other differently abled people is hosting its inaugural “Purple and Green Gala,” this fall, Patch has learned. The group, Our Children’s Story, was created in 2010 by Libra Hicks, a married mother of two sons, including one with epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
The gala, set for Saturday, Nov. 4 from 7:30-11:30 p.m. at Eventide Brewing on Grant Street in southeast Atlanta, will honor five leaders from the special needs community. The goal of the gala is to raise awareness about cerebral palsy, a group of neurological disorders that affect motor skills, and epilepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by several sensory disturbances.
Our Children’s Story provides a number of services, including family networking, medical and educational resources, recreational outings and other events.

“It is important to me that people who are struggling with finding resources as well as self-care get what they need,” Hicks said in a news release. “I understand that I will not be able to help everyone, however, if I touch the majority of those seeking help, I will feel as though my mission has been accomplished.”
Tickets for the Purple and Green Gala will be $65, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit Our Children's Story, the group said. The attire is semi-formal. For more information see www.purpleandgreengala.org.
