Popular Midtown Bar Featured On 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives' Closes Abruptly
The Highlander announced Monday that it needed to abruptly close after being open since 1992.
MIDTOWN, GA — A Midtown Atlanta dive bar and music venue announced its closing.
The Highlander is located in the Midtown Promenade and has been open since 1992. The business made the sudden news Monday on its Facebook page.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances and hardships, Darby and Darlene have decided to put this place to rest. Tonight is the last night the doors will be open."

The Highlander was featured more than once on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
The bar thanked its patrons for making it a good 30 years.

The owners didn’t say exactly why they were closing. A message wasn't immediately returned.
