Two Arrested In Series Of Midtown Mail Thefts

The men, both convicted felons, were caught with hundreds of pieces of mail along with tools such as screwdrivers.

ATLANTA -- Police have arrested two convicted felons who they said were in possession of hundreds of pieces of stolen mail and tools to break into vehicles. On Jan. 29, 2019, around 2 am, an officer in the area of 800 Peachtree Street observed two men looking into vehicles. The officer requested assistance and kept responding officers updated on the suspects’ movements.

As other officers arrived and began to approach the men, they both fled on foot. Officers gave chase and were able to apprehend both. Preliminary information indicates the males were in possession of three bags, containing screwdrivers and hundreds of pieces of mail that appeared to have been taken from 800 Peachtree Street.

Police said the suspects pried open the community mailboxes in the lobby of 800 Peachtree Street and stole mail from inside. Officers checked the parking lot where the suspects had been observed and did not locate any vehicles that appeared to have been broken into.
