The city has since replaced the damaged pipe, reinforced the surrounding area, and notified state regulators, though public notice came nearly two weeks after the incident.

2. Milledgeville man arrested following road rage incident (unionrecorder.com) — A 61-year-old Milledgeville resident was arrested after deputies say he displayed a revolver during a road-rage encounter on Ga. Route 212 in Baldwin County. Using Flock cameras, investigators traced the pickup to Merry Drive, where they recovered a matching handgun and obtained an aggravated assault warrant. No injuries were reported, and the case remains in the court system’s hands.

3. 5 St. Mary's Colleagues From Across Region Awarded Nursing Education Scholarships (athensceo.com) — A Milledgeville resident, Natalie Moody, has been awarded a Marilyn Brown Nursing Scholarship as she works toward becoming a licensed practical nurse and eventually an RN. The scholarship, funded through St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, supports five Middle Georgia caregivers pursuing advanced nursing education to strengthen patient care across the region.

U.S. News & World Report recognizes twice as many Georgia hospitals for best maternity care, access (gpb.org) — Milledgeville’s Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin has been named one of Georgia’s best hospitals for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report, a big win for local families. The recognition highlights strong outcomes on C-sections, preterm births, and newborn complications, and comes as Georgia more than doubles its number of top-rated maternity and access hospitals.

GMC football player dies in tragic house fire while home for the holidays (11alive.com) — Georgia Military College in Milledgeville is mourning offensive lineman Izaiah Taylor, a 21-year-old student-athlete who died Monday in a house fire while home in Stone Mountain for the holidays. School leaders say the loss is deeply felt across the Milledgeville campus community as they honor his life and support those who knew him.
