• NAACP leader pushes to recognize Nation of Islam founder's Central Georgia legacy, Sandersville roots (13wmaz.com) — Sandersville leaders are being asked to formally honor Elijah Muhammad’s local roots with a county proclamation and historic marker at his birthplace. NAACP president and descendant Leonard Jordan says recognizing the Nation of Islam founder’s Sandersville connection could inspire local youth and highlight the town’s rich African American history, with support from the Journey Black Foundation.
