Local Fishing Enthusiasts Can Weigh In On New Fishing Regulations This Week

Some new regulations include removal of some seasonal restrictions, removal of current slot limit for largemouth bass in some areas and implement restrictions in others.

There are three public hearings scheduled this week for fishing enthusiasts to weigh in on porposed changes to some of Georgia’s fishing regulations. 

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in Social Circle, these changes include the following:

  • Removal of a seasonal restriction for fishing around marked areas at three springs in Lake Blackshear;
  • Removal of the current slot limit for largemouth bass from Bear Creek Reservoir in Jackson County;
  • Implementation of a new slot length limit for largemouth bass on Lake Lindsay Grace in Wayne County. 

If these changes are likely to impact you in any way, and you want to voice your opinion, the DNR has scheduled three public hearings to give the public an opportunity to offer input on these proposed changes. These will begin at 7 p.m. and will take place at the following dates and locations:
