📰 News we're reading

• Monday proved to be a busy day for first responders in Walton County (monroelocal.org) — Monroe and Walton County firefighters handled a destructive house fire that displaced four residents, followed by several crashes and another structure fire across the county Monday. Local crews also managed multiple wrecks on Highways 186 and 138 and a crash on North Broad at Pavilion Parkway, keeping roads closed at times and first responders stretched thin.

• Carol Pritchett Prescott (barnesville.com) — Monroe is mourning the passing of 82-year-old resident Carol Pritchett Prescott, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose family still lives in Monroe. After years of service to churches and community groups across Georgia, she and her husband became active members of Monroe First United Methodist Church; a graveside service will be held later in Wrightsville.
