Mailbox Blown Up By Fireworks, Stolen Boat and Other Cases by WCSO
Five fishing poles, a pond boat, credit cards and copper wire was stolen in separate incidents.
Walton County Sheriff's Office responded to the following incidents during the period June 29 to July 1, 2013. This report was compiled from the Walton County Sheriff's Office Zone Alerts.
Zone 1
- Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm at a residence on Hillside Trace. All windows and doors appeared secure.
- Safety Check – Walton County deputies performed a safety check point at HD Atha Road and Monroe Jersey Road.

- Entering Auto – A vehicle was entered at Criswell Park on Criswell Rd. Credit cards were taken from the vehicle.
- Prowler – A report was made on Hickory Nut Way in Squirrel Hollow when a knock was heard on the window at a residence. No contact was made.
- Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check at Alcovy Station Rd. and Jersey Covington Rd. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. One arrest was made for DUI.
Zone 3
- Suspicious Person – A report was made on Brookshire Drive in Brooks Crossing about someone ringing the doorbell at a residence. No contact made.
- Prowler Report – A report was made on Clearwater Drive in Clearwater Estates about someone repeatedly ringing the doorbell at a residence and running off. No contact made.

- Entering Auto – A vehicle was entered on Dry Pond Rd. The engine was allegedly tampered with and items inside the vehicle were moved around. Nothing was taken. A white male in a blue passenger car was seen on the property.
- Extra Patrol – Extra patrol requested off Wall Road due to unknown persons damaging back door while attempting to make entry. The meter panel was removed and the power going to the residence off Wall Road was cut off. Homeowner requests Extra Patrol due to believing suspects will return in reference to stripping copper from the house.
Zone 5
- Burglary – A white male and a white female were arrested for burglary, after a residence on Shiloh Drive was forcibly entered. They are also suspects in several other burglaries in the area.
- Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Oakbriar Drive in Plantation Oaks. All windows and doors were found secure.
- Agency Assist – A subject was injured after crashing his motorcycle on Roscoe Davis Rd. The driver was transported to Gwinnett Medical with non-life threatening injuries.
- Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check at Ozora Church Rd. and Richmond Place. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. Three arrests were made for DUI.
- Underage Consumption – Three arrests for Underage Consumption of Alcohol were made during a traffic stop on Ridgewood Rd. off Hwy 81.
- Theft – Five fishing poles were stolen from residence off Alton Green Road. Two suspects were arrested for the theft and the property was returned to the owner.
- Alarm – Walton County Deputies responded to an alarm signal off Oakmont Circle. All appeared to be fine.
- Damage to Property – Unknown persons placed a sparkler bomb inside a mailbox at a residence off Hickory Grove Church Road, which caused the mailbox to explode and melt into the grass. Walton County Fire Department put out the fire and the homeowner was notified. Homeowner advised this was the third incident in three weeks in which someone tried to set fire to the mailbox.
Zone 6
- Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Tuck Rd. All windows and doors appeared secure.
- Vehicle Accident – A subject was observed driving westbound in the eastbound lane on Hwy 78. The vehicle struck a mailbox and another vehicle. The vehicle then crossed the median multiple times, struck a trash can in front of the Baptist Church in Between. The vehicle stopped after striking another vehicle. The subject was found to have had medical issues.
- Stolen Vehicle – A pond boat was taken from a residence on Lockview Drive.
- Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Lance Court. All windows and doors appeared secure.
Zone 7
- Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Atha Woods Drive in Atha Woods subdivision. All windows and doors appeared secure.
- Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check at Hwy 138 and Lakeside Drive. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. Two arrests were made for DUI.
- Theft – Lawn maintenance equipment was taken from a residence on Hwy 138.
- Extra Patrol – Extra patrol requested in reference to illegal dumping of house hold trash at Moon Tree Farm.
