Veterans Day Ceremony in Monroe on Saturday

The American Legion Lindsey-Garrett Post 64 will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on the lawn at the Historic Courthouse in Monroe on Nov. 10.

There are several Veterans Day Ceremonies planned for Nov. 10, including one at the Historic Courthouse in Downtown Monroe. Hosted by Monroe’s American Legion Lindsey-Garrett Post 64, the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. The speaker for the occasion will be Charles Tucker, the former Commander of the American Legion for the state of Georgia.

According to Wikipedia, Veterans Day is an official holiday in the U.S., observed annually on Nov. 11, honoring armed service veterans. It is different to Memorial Day in that Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans while Memorial Day is observed in remembrance of the men and women who died while serving.Β
